I can relax after studying and go a few rounds, unlocking a new item or defeating a boss that destroyed me earlier. “Enter The Gungeon” is incredibly fun to play. The more you play, the better you get and the more items have a chance to appear later on. The game also follows an unlock system where you can choose the new items you want to appear later in the game. This is only the surface though, as each room has chances for several different types of random encounters: special items that change how you play, new abilities that activate when you carry certain items, entrances to secret levels, surprise mini-bosses, the list goes on. Gungeon is a game where you progress little by little, learning a new trick and doing better each time.īy the time I was able to pull through and make it to the fourth chamber with a single point of health left, I was also able to complete the first chamber consistently, sometimes I did not even take damage. The game is perma-death however, so every time you fail, it is back to the first chamber.

There are 221 guns in the Gungeon, all of which are unique. My favorite thing about the game is the huge variety of weapons. You play as one of four characters on an epic journey to the Gungeon, a dungeon where everything is gun-themed in true American fashion. It is a top-down, Bullet Hell shooter with adorable pixel art. “Enter The Gungeon” strikes the balance between insane difficulty and simple mechanics. After a long day of studying, it is nice to settle down and play a game that is easy to pick up and simple to understand… and then get completely destroyed by the brutal difficulty.
